Kids' Page!
CATCH THE READING BUG Bugs are the theme for this summer’s program, so there’ll be lots of creepy crawly things going on at the library. Children ages 3-11 can sign up to “Catch the Reading Bug” any time after June 16th. They’ll be given a reading record to keep track of the books they read (or have read to them) and a game card with seven tasks (like “Read a book about bugs”) to complete. Great prizes are awarded for reading the required number of books and finishing the game card. Examples of prizes include a free ice cream cone and free entry to the Roger Williams Park Zoo and Green Animals Topiary Garden. We also have several special events planned: Monday, July 14th, 10AM Storyteller Christopher “Kavi” Carbone “Spiders, Mosquitoes & Bugs - Oh My!”
Wednesday, July 30th, 6PM Animal Experiences with Dave Marchetti Here’s a chance to meet some bugs up close and personal, along with some of the animals who are their predators.
Monday, August 4th, 2PM “Metamorphosis” Picnic for Program Participants Metamorphosis is when a caterpillar changes its shape completely and turns into a butterfly. We’ll make caterpillar bracelets or painted caterpillar rocks, and kid-sized butterfly wings. Then there will be an outdoor picnic with the bugs in our backyard.
STORY HOUR Story Hour is held Mondays and Fridays at 10:15 and will continue through the end of July. All ages are welcome. To sign up please call 884-5524 or visit the library. |
